ORGANIC GARDENING

We don't have a yard, so we decided to try gardening on our deck. We found a neat place in Ladner that specializes in organic seeds. The place is called WEST COAST SEEDS. We bought some Carrot, Radish and Basil seeds. With a bit of luck, in a month we'll have a few vegetables we can eat.

try "Genesis Seeds" which produce and sell certified organic seeds of more than 300 varieties.

Thanks ! The Genesis Seeds sound great ! However they have to travel all the way from Israel to get here. West Coast Seeds is about 20km from our home.

Raises an interesting question.

Given the choice of...

a) locally grown non-organic produce
or
b) non-locally grown organic produce

which is the more environmentally sensitive choice? Of course, this is less and less a choice that has to be made in the Vancouver area (fortunately), but still.. my choice would be locally grown produce. "Animal Vegetable Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver has some interesting insight into this issue...
