Natsuko and I spent the weekend in Parksville. We both wanted to get away from the city, so we grabbed a few good books and headed over to the Tigh-na-mara Resort for the weekend.
This was our third year that we've stayed at Tigh-na-mara. We always book the same room too, because the view is so spectacular. In the morning you can hear sea lions from the balcony if the tide is in. In the afternoon there is deer all over the area. If we could figure out a way to become independently wealthy, we might buy a cabin there.
We ate at our favorite sushi spot again. Naoko at SAKURA had a few new rolls that she had invented. There was a candied salmon with cream cheese roll, and a shrimp with corn flakes roll ! They were delicious !
A new shop opened next to SAKURA called the BEACH HOUSE BOUTIQUE. It's full of neat gifts and clothing. The owner is a really nice guy with lots of information about the area. We found out about a great spot to see Black Bears the next time we're in Port Alberni. The best thing we found at the boutique was the CROW BAR chocolates ! If you haven't tried one of these bars, then you gotta pick one up the next time you're in Parksville.

We spent an afternoon at Coombs and Qualicum Beach. Natsuko went running both days, while I went searching for deer (we ended up seeing four deer and one red headed wood pecker). It was a great trip and we're already planning our next return visit.
