BACK IN ACTION !

It's been a while since Natsuko and I were out at the Queen's Canal. We finally admitted to ourselves that it's too difficult to get over there with the wheelbarrow and our other gear. We're hoping that someone in our old neighbourhood will continue our work. So if you live in the East Richmond Hamilton area, and you care about your neighbourhood, please help pick up litter along the Queen's Canal ! The beavers will truly appreciate it !

Now that we live in Steveston, Natsuko and I do a lot of walking and jogging. Natsuko is jogging almost every day ! I'm not quite as ambitious as her, so I usually take my binoculars and walk to the river to birdwatch. Now It's only a few blocks to the river from our place, but it's amazing how much garbage is lining the sides of the road. There is a series of ditches linking out to the end of No. 2 Rd., and they've become full of miscellaneous trash. Some of it appears to have ended up there from the wind, but there is also a lot of garbage that has been deliberately tossed in. This is so frustrating ! So it's time to do something about it.

Steveston is a beautiful part of Richmond. A lot of people have discovered this in recent years, and it's become a popular place to live. We want it to stay a clean place to live.

We contacted the city again and let them know we would be picking up trash in our area. We are volunteering under the City Beautification program. Once again we just have to let them know when we've collected a load of trash, and they'll come pick it up. We're helping the city, and they're helping us ! It's AWESOME !

Anyways... long story short, we were out today and only had time to collect one bag's worth. It's amazing how fast you can fill a bag full of garbage. Sometimes we'll look at an area and think "well this place doesn't look too bad", but somehow we still manage to collect an entire bag's worth of garbage. It's everywhere ! Stuck in the grass, stuck under fences, and partially buried in the dirt. Here's a look at what we're up against:

your pal,
Beadle

You're not just everybody's pal, you're Mother Nature's pal, too!

That looks good on a resume.

I was up early this morning with my toddler watching Sesame Street and when Oscar came on my boy said "Dada, look! Ostor!" and I said, "No, no, buddy, you mean "Colin."
