It's not a very funny joke whoever did this... This week we pulled a car door, a bus stop sign, and a few bags worth of garbage out of the canal. While we were pulling the car door out, we stumbled onto a new pile of garbage. We didn't have enough bags with us to get it all unfortunately. There is an old coleman cooler that will take some work to pry out of the muck, but it will have to wait until next weekend. It was raining while we were out there this weekend, and we discovered it was quite helpful. When the garbage is waterlogged, it doesn't blow away. We have done this on a few windy days, and it's difficult to keep garbage in the bags.
On a more positive note, the canal's ducks and geese now have small groups of babies following behind them. All the more reason to keep up our effort.
We bought a wheel barrel yesterday, and it proved very useful for moving the car door to an area where the city can pick it up.

I bet the guy with the car door doesn't call it a "canal" but calls it a "ditch".
I don't quite understand how you come to possess a car door that you need to get rid of, and the best thing you can think of to do is to chuck it into a body of water. What is this, Trailer Park Boys? Or do you think maybe the door just fell off some car driving nearby and just kind of accidentally went into the canal?
Maybe because ditch is also a verb, it makes sense at the time when you're holding something you need to throw away and you're like "where should I ditch this?" and your buddy looks at you and you look at the ditch and then you look back at him and then he looks at the ditch and looks back at you and then he says "hehe. Ditch." and you both laugh.
And then you chuck your extra car door at a family of ducks.
