We would love to have a dog, but the hours that Natsuko and I both work, plus the distance we travel each day, makes it difficult. This weekend we found out there is another reason we can't have a dog...
We attended the PET WELLNESS EXPO at Garry Point in Steveston on Saturday. There was a very big turnout. Natsuko and I saw a documentary about Greyhounds a few years ago, and heard about how loving and gentle a dog they are. We found out about a site where you can adopt an x-racing greyhound, and decided that's what we would do one day.
On Saturday we met the regional president for GREYHOUND PETS INC. He gave us a lot of info about the dogs that helped us determine they are definitely a match for us. Apparently Greyhounds like to spend most of their day laying on your couch, most Greyhounds get along well with other pets, and he told us that if there is one word to describe a Greyound it's POLITE. How could you go wrong with a dog like that ?
Unfortunately though, we were told that we can't have a greyhound in the townhouse we live in. Apparently there is a rule that if your townhouse doesn't open onto a private fenced in area then you can't adopt one. So unfortunately we can't adopt one of these amazing dogs yet. But we now have another deciding factor for when we buy our next home.

My sister and brother-in-law had a beautiful greyhound named Rain that was amazing. She was a bit of a rascal though as whenever the front door was accidentally left open, she'd be out and down the road. Her speed was incredible. This escaping ultimately ended in her death as she ran in front of a car during their daughter's 13th birthday party. Poor Rain, as she was really nice and good with kids and dogs. When she was a year old she was running in a park and ran so fast into a ditch that she broke her back. Luckily, my brother-in-law is a vet and was able to fix her up as good as new. Good luck! I love those greyhounds!
I guess that means we can't adopt one either because of our townhouse. How great would a Greyhound be!!
